Change your life for the better...

Your Hypnotherapy Questions

Here are the most popular ones...

What can I expect to happen?

During the initial consultation we will discuss your specific needs and gather any relevant and important information. At all times you can expect to feel extremely safe and at ease with your Hypnotherapist.

Who can be hypnotised?

Most people can achieve hypnosis providing they wish to be hypnotised.
The only possible exceptions are: those with severe learning difficulties and people who are under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs.

What if ‘I’ can’t be hypnotised?

You can. Everyone can. As long as you wish to enter hypnosis, you will. It's an easy, enjoyable and thoroughly relaxing process.

When I am in hypnosis am I unconscious?

No!  In the hypnotic state you are not unconscious or even asleep. Despite being very relaxed you are always aware of everything that is going on around you.

Will I be asleep?

No, contrary to popular belief you will not be asleep. You will simply be very relaxed – usually with your eyes closed, but you can still hear, think, smell, feel and taste.

Can I be influenced to do anything against my will?

No, and in fact you would be shocked out of the hypnotic state should such a thing ever happen. I.A.P.H. therapists such as myself, undergo strict background checks and always adhere to a strict code of ethics – so this should not be a concern for any client at any time.

 Will I lose control?

No, you will remain in control at all times. In hypnosis nobody can make you do anything that you do not want to do. You will remember all that happens during the hypnosis session – as it is a state of heightened, not diminished awareness.

Can I speak while in Hypnosis?

Yes – and when in Hypnoanalysis you will be encourage to do so.

What does ‘being hypnotised’ feel like?

There is no such thing as a ‘hypnotised feeling’ and this can lead some people to wonder if they were actually ‘hypnotised’ at all. The most common sensation or feeling is of deep relaxation and calmness. In fact, many clients report that is the most relaxed they have ever felt in their entire lives. Other sensations can include the client feeling very heavy or light; tingling in their hands and feet or pins and needles.

Is it safe?

Absolutely!  The routines I use during a hypnotherapy session are the safest in the world. You enter Hypnosis via a deep relaxation technique and your exit from this hypnotic state is safe, controlled and relaxed at all times.

Are there any risks or side effects?

Hypnotherapy is completely safe in the hands of a professional and competent Hypnotherapist. No drugs or tablets are used so there are no harmful side effects. Hypnosis is a proven therapeutic aid – benefiting the client in a multitude of ways – such as releasing tension, lessening anxiety states and promoting feelings of calmness and tranquillity.

Can I drive after having Hypnotherapy?

Yes. However, you should never listen to a hypnosis CD or audio tape whilst driving or operating machinery.

Can I get stuck in a trance?

No, Just as you choose to enter into hypnosis, you can choose to emerge from a trance at any stage. (Remember you are always in control.)

How many sessions or visits will I need?

The number of sessions depends entirely on the individual and the specific problem to be resolved – this will be discussed at the initial consultation. Simple problems such as smoking, nail biting, slimming, pre-test nerves etc. usually require a single session and the success rate is surprisingly high. The more deep-rooted disorders require ‘analytical’ rather than ‘suggestion’ therapy; ‘analytical’ therapy usually requires a series of weekly sessions – depending on the needs of each particular client.

Can ‘normal’ people be hypnotised?

Not only can be, but should be – for an insight into yourself that has no equal. The insight gained from the therapy improves the quality of life, no matter what the problem is.

Is my ‘Phobia’ silly?

No – no phobia, fear or anxiety is silly. Almost certainly every well-trained, qualified member of the I.A.P.H. will have seen ‘it’ before and will be able to deal with it. Any problems that are affecting your life in a detrimental way are surely worth doing something about – no I.A.P.H. therapist would ever think your phobia was ‘silly’. You will be welcomed with professionalism and treated with respect at all times.

Who may benefit from Hypnotherapy?

The answer to this question is ‘virtually everyone’. Given that Hypnotherapy can be utilised to access a person’s inner potential and that probably no one is performing to their actual potential, then this answer is literally true. However it is not just ‘potential’ which Hypnotherapy is well-placed to address, as it also enables the client’s inner resources to effect any beneficial changes they may desire in their life.
